The Mighty Himalayas

As a kid, when I first came across your name,
You were just crooked lines on the India map in my Atlas.
Turns out you are an experience no picture can frame,
Lot more than just a mountain range that beautifies the canvas.

Ornated with a crown called snow with an eternal glow,
Nights illuminated with clear galaxies of unnumbered stars.
Being home to the perennial, lucid and glacial water flow,
You seem to hold back time and ensure we lose sight of all scars.

Each day,  I was exploring your unknown alien terrains,
Yet it felt so much at home in the assuring comfort of your lap.
Perhaps even the Sun cherishes your company in all pains and gains,
He abandons your abode only for such a feeble time gap.

Lowering oxygen levels and soaring pulse rates,
All forgotten admiring your humongous distinction.
I’m still lost in various inexplicable trance states,
You are currently my dearest addiction.

The Perceptions

Roots, soil and the twisted twig,
That meant life for the crawling worm,
Nectar from flowers, small and big,
Was butterfly’s world in its purest form.

The same good old world,
Just different eyes that see.
High above this worm and moth, an eagle whirled,
Admiring the picturesque garden with glee.

Life is so lonely and annoyingly long,
The abandoned old widow silently wept.
Hoping and praying her life would prolong,
The diseased little girl never slept.

The same good old world,
Just different eyes that see.
Crystal clear, yet so blurred,
Perspectives, like the waves at sea.

Through the train window, a kid looked on,
Dreaming of boarding a flight one day.
The smile of a middle aged man in a plane was gone,
As memories of train journey with his family made way.

The same good old world,
Just different eyes that see.
Straight as an arrow, yet so curled,
Perspectives, like the noise of a buzzing bee.

The bride’s eye view

Each drop of tear,
holds two worlds of emotion.
Excitement, anxiety and fear,
Dreams, nightmares, a mixed anticipation.

Like a just born little child,
staring at the world with curious eyes.
Like a kid abandoned in the wild,
looking helplessly at the night skies.

The worried mother uncontrollably weeps,
though she has been there and seen it all.
The strong willed father’s heart never sleeps,
for, she no longer remains his priceless little doll.

Like the night which has eclipsed a beautiful day,
All that remain are memories of wonderful yesterday.
Tomorrow may bring in fresh happiness in every way,
For, the scary night leads way to the rising sun each day.

The life of a pawn

An army of rook, bishop and knight,
the mighty minister and the royal king.
Shielding those high powers I fight,
Though I am just a little thing.

On my superiors, attacks I can prevent,
And opponent’s great powers, I can remove,
But, My master is ready to forgo me at any instant,
For one step at a time is all I can move.

Passing all these hurdles I reach the other end,
And then master decides I am not required any more,
Off I go and he lets the minister descend,
I leave with satisfaction of fulfilling my role.

Win or loss doesn’t matter as long as a valiant battle is fought.
Into the same box we are stuffed at the end of the contest.
These differences exist only as long as game is on, I thought,
As alongside the powerful and royal king I proudly rest.

Never lose hope

Emerged a tiny Caterpillar as an egg cracked open,
Crawling out into a world where he was Hated by all men.
Not losing hope, around him a cocoon he spun,
Out he flew as a beautiful Butterfly to stun everyone.

The Picturesque Kerala

Soothingly Pleasant and green everywhere,
We return with unforgettable memories to share.
The thrilling encounter with the waves from the Arabian,
add to this the calming effect of the back-waters in the median.
Scenic beauty of endless rows of trees & water falls in Gods own country,
Makes us wonder, if in this part of the earth lies heavens’ direct entry.

Patience is the key :)

In the form of a sudden heavy downpour, came a tough test,
Trapped the shelter-less bird on the way back to its nest.
Accompanying the rain, arrived the deafening thunders,
The darkness of night ensured that the bird surrenders.
Hurting the tender feathers fall the fierce hail stones,
There is no scope for help in this land of unknowns.
Not losing hope, the brave little bird remained strong,
Fighting the one sided battle all night long.
Then emerged the sun marking the beginning of a new day,
Flew the bird back to freedom chirping with joy along its way.

What is life without challenges!

Life is like the loose sand of the sea shore on which you stand,
Challenges appear in the form of fierce waves to take you off the land.
Hold on to the ground and maintain balance till it leaves the shore,
And you find that it left your feet more firm rooted than it was ever before

The Proposal

Every Dawn, the Rising Sun has been a picturesque Sight,
Adoring its Beauty along with you added charm to the Twilight.
Seated on the green grass I’ve admired many scenic Sunsets,
But this Dusk felt more elegant as on my shoulder your head rests.
Sitting Riverside I realized, as I admired the white full Moon,
With you by my side, every moment of my Life seems like a Boon.
Down on my knees I go pleading for your hand,
For, You not being mine I can never stand.
Perhaps the only other person I’ll bend down to, will be your Dad,
To tell him that you will no longer be the loving Princess his mighty Kingdom has had.
I can’t assure to be as caring and loving as he has always been,
But, from now on, Of my little Kingdom you will be the Queen.  🙂

Shattered Dreams

There was one Mr. Dream, he invited Mr. Hope,
Then came Mr. Fate, forced me to run against the slope.
Chop off my branches i said, I shall grow them back,
He chose to pull out the entire seed.
Today any form of tear my eyes lack,
Because, they just profusely bleed…
